Know Your Spot teaches soccer players where to stand. It is built for children to use, so it is built to know as little as possible about anyone.

Players and families

Players and families never make an account. Nothing about a child is collected: no name, no age, no photo, no location. The app has no ads, no tracking and no analytics.

A child can type their own name or number onto their spot, and draw and save plays. A name on a spot stays on that phone or tablet and is never sent anywhere. Opening a club's link lets the phone read that club's plays and nothing else.

When a play is saved on a phone that opened a club's link, the play's name and the words typed into its steps are sent to that club's admins to read. Nothing about who typed them is sent. If an admin approves the words, they are recorded by our voice provider, ElevenLabs, so the play can be read out in the app's voice. If not, nothing is recorded. So that nothing private ends up in a recording, please do not type anyone's name into a play's steps.

Coaches, club admins and parents

Signing in is optional and is for adults: coaches and club admins, who run teams, and parents, who can keep the plays they draw on every phone. Sign in is with an emailed code or with Google or Apple. Accounts are not for children. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we delete it. For a signed in adult we keep:

  • their email address, and the name Google or Apple shares when they sign in that way;
  • which club and teams they help run, if any;
  • the team names and plays they save. A play is shirts, numbers, arrows and a coach's words.

A club's admins can see the email addresses of their club's coaches. That is used only to sign people in and to show their teams their plays. It is never sold, shared for marketing, or used for advertising.

Feedback

Feedback is for coaches and parents. The app asks a question a young child cannot answer before it opens the feedback form, and no account is needed. A feedback note holds what was typed, the first name the sender chooses to give, which screen it was sent from, the app's version, a description of the phone or browser, and the internet address it came from. If the sender chooses to add screenshots or short videos, those are kept too. A signed in adult can choose to send feedback with their account, so we can reply. Feedback is read only by us, to fix problems and improve the app; club admins do not see it. Please do not include a child's name, face or voice in a note, a screenshot or a video.

We keep a feedback note, with any screenshots and videos, for 12 months, and then delete it. The internet address it came from is kept for 30 days, to stop the form being misused, and is then removed from the note.

Contact form

The contact form on this website is for coaches, parents and clubs. A message holds your name if you give it, your email address, whether you are a coach, parent, club admin or other, what you wrote, and the internet address it came from. We use it only to reply to you. It is read only by us, and we get an email saying it arrived. Like feedback, a message is kept for 12 months and then deleted, and the internet address for 30 days. If you are under 13, please ask a parent to write to us instead.

Coach, the assistant for adults

The coaches and admins of a club can ask Coach, an assistant, questions about soccer and their club's playbook. Coach is answered by Claude, an AI from Anthropic. A question is sent to Anthropic with the club's plays and notes, the formation on screen, and the last few turns of that conversation. Who asked is not sent. Club admins can also ask Coach to draft the spoken answers for a spot, and nothing it drafts reaches a child until an admin approves it. Children cannot use Coach, and nothing about a child is asked for. Please do not type anyone's name into a question.

Who else handles it

  • Supabase stores accounts, plays and feedback, on servers in the United States.
  • Hostinger hosts the website and sends the sign-in emails.
  • Anthropic answers questions asked of Coach.
  • ElevenLabs records the words of plays a club admin approved.
  • Google and Apple, only if you choose to sign in with them.

The website's servers keep ordinary request logs, such as addresses and times, for security, and those are deleted on the host's normal schedule.

Deleting your account

Anyone signed in can delete their account from the app's settings, which removes their email address, their places on teams and the plays they saved. Plays they sent to a team's playbook stay with the team, and plays already sent to others by link stay on those phones. Feedback they sent with their account is kept, with the account link removed, until its 12 months are up. You can also email us and we will do it for you.
