Know Your Spot

About

Why Know Your Spot exists

Know Your Spot teaches soccer players of every age where to stand and what to do. It does it with pictures, one word and a voice, so a child who cannot read yet can learn it alone.

Made by a soccer parent

It started on the sideline. Young players want to do the right thing, but a whiteboard full of words and arrows loses a seven year old in seconds. Telling a child where to stand during a game is too late.

Kids learn a spot by seeing the same picture every time and hearing it said, again and again. So the app shows the field the same way on every screen, names each thing out loud, and lets players practise at home, between practices, as often as they like.

It is built with feedback from coaches, families and players, and it keeps changing as they tell us what helps.

Simple rules, kept every time

No sentences on screen

Every label is one word, always with a picture and a voice. Tap anything to hear it.

Numbers, not letters

A player is a shirt with a number. Letters mean nothing to a child who does not read yet.

The same picture, always

Our goal is always at the bottom and we always attack up the screen, so what a player learns sticks.

Colour is never the only clue

Our players are shirts and theirs are marks. Runs, passes and dribbles are drawn with different lines. Colour blind settings are there too.

A voice for everything

Lines are recorded in English and Spanish, with several voices to choose from.

Works at the field

Once it has been opened, it keeps working with no signal.
